a beautiful beginning: ainsley kay’s birth story.

Unlike big brother’s birth story, this was pretty uneventful, which is never a bad thing when speaking of birth. Sean and Karianne had Liam two years ago and went through hrs of frustrating labor only to get “stuck at 8cm” and end up in a c-section. He was a big boy, 9.14lbs. So this time around they scheduled the birth of their new “Itty Bitty,” as they called it. Way too bright and early Tuesday morning, they casually walked in with no feelings of panic or pain as Karianne checked in to have their baby! Having been through a scheduled c-section myself, it’s quite a surreal feeling. Since Liam was a biggin, they assumed this baby would be as well, so Karianne was more than ok with avoiding the labor with potentially the same outcome as last time. I arrived just as surgery was ending and anxiously waited in the room down the hall for Sean to come get me. Sean and I go way back, so not only was it just the typical baby arrival excitement for me, but I was sharing in the happiness of two friend’s growing family. Since the sex was a surprise, I couldn’t hardly wait to get to the recovery room. When i finally met the baby, I was so so thrilled to see it was a girl because that’s what they were hoping for! Itty Bitty weighed in at a healthy 9.13lbs and 21 inches, not so itty bitty at all! They had Liam share the name and sex with the whole family after he got to meet her first. I can’t wait to watch her grow and I can only imagine how stinkin’ adorable she’s going to be since Liam the cutest! Congrats guys, I’m SO happy for you! Love, melanie. Ps.
